LPG prices hiked by Tk 1.16 per kg

The cost of liquefied petroleum gas, which is used for cooking and to power vehicles, has increased by Tk 1.16 per kilogram, according to the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission.

Now buyers will have to pay Tk 102.88 per kg, including VAT, starting in September.

In August, consumers paid Tk 101.62 per kg, down from Tk 104.52 in July.

A 5.5 kg cylinder will cost Tk 566 under the new rate, a 12 kg cylinder Tk 1,235, a 12.5 kg cylinder Tk 1,286, a 15 kg cylinder Tk 1,544, and a 16 kg cylinder will cost Tk 1,646.

On Wednesday, acting BERC chairman Mohammad Abu Faruque announced the revised prices. The prices will go into effect today.
