10,000 families get power connection

The government has provided electricity connection to 10,000 families at Keraniganj upazila and opened a solar-powered easy bike charging station at Ruhitpur area in the upazila, reports BSS.

 

Food Minister Md Qamrul Islam inaugurated the station as chief guest at Keraniganj area, while State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid attended the ceremony as a special guest.

 

According to the Rural Electrification Board of Bangladesh (REB) release, the construction cost was around Taka 50 lakh. It has been set up at the rooftop of Sunny Filling Station with REB's own fund.

 

The government has installed the solar charging station to reduce the increasing pressure on the national grid, the release said.

 

It said initially the station would charge 20-22 easy bikes at a time. Dhaka Palli Bidyut Samity 2 completed the solar charging station.
