7 missing in Meghna trawler capsize

At least 7 people went missing after a trawler capsized in Meghna river of Chandpur on Tuesday morning.

The trawler sank after being hit by an oil-laden vessel in Haimchar upazila around 9:30am, with at least 50 to 60 people on board.

Safaruddin Ahmed, SI of Haimchar Police Station, said most of the passengers managed to swim ashore after the incident, but a woman Aleya Begum along with her two children still missing.

Meanwhile, the rescued passengers of the sunken trawler said that at least 10/15 people are still messing, reports our correspondent from the spot.

Police said that they are carrying out a search operation with the help of the locals.
