3 held over Panchagarh priest murder

Police have arrested three people suspecting their involvement in the murder of a Hindu priest in Panchagarh’s Debiganj upazila.

Police arrested the three after raiding across the Debiganj upazila on Sunday night.

The arrestees are Khalilur Rahman, 55, Babul Hossain, 28, and Jahangir Hossain. All of them are the residents of Debiganj, police said.

Gias Uddin Ahmed, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Panchagarh, confirmed the matter to Samakal.

Earlier on Sunday, assailants hacked the 50-year-old Hindu priest Jogeshwar Roy, who headed the Santo Gaurio temple, to death.

Another priest named Gopal Chandra Roy sustained bullet injury in the same attack. He is being treated at Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
