N’ganj 7-murder: Deposition deferred for Tarek Sayed’s absence

Recording of the depositions of witnesses in two cases filed over the sensational seven-murder in Narayanganj have been deferred as former RAB officials Lt Col (retd) Tarek Sayed Mohammad failed to appear before the court on health grounds.

The court of Narayanganj District and Sessions Judge Enayet Hossain passed the order on Thursday and fixed February 29 for the date of recording the depositions.

Earlier on February 8, the court framed charges against 35 people, including former city councillor Nur Hossain and three former RAB officials, in the two cases.

In that day, the court also fixed today (February 25) to begin the trial in presence of the 23 accused as other 12 accused are on the run.

On April, 27 last year, seven people including Narayanganj city panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker were abducted the Dhaka-Narayanganj link road.

Their bodies were later found floating on the Shitalakkhya river. Gutted and the abdomen filled with stones, they were dumped in the river.
