Tk 1cr ‘looted’ from ATM booth in Gazipur

Robbers have ‘looted’ more than Tk 1 crore which was brought for an ATM (Automated Teller Machine) booth reload in Gazipur’s Kaliakoir upazila.

The incident took place at a first track ATM booth of Dutch-Bangla Bank in Horinhati area of the upazila on Wednesday night.

Abdul Motaleb Mia, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kaliakoir Police Station, confirmed the matter to Samakal Online.

The robbery took place when ATM maintenance and security service provider ‘Moneyplant’ was about to reload the booth with cash, said the OC quoting the booth officials.

He said a group of 10 to 12 miscreants, on a pick-up truck attacked Moneyplant employees and snatched away two steel cases stuffed with the cash.

Police said the robbery is preplanned and it is estimated that a total of Tk 1 crore and 2 lakh was in the steel cases.
