AL leader held with firearm in Tangail

Detectives in a drive arrested a local leader of Awami League in possession of a firearm from his residence in Gopalpur upazila early Saturday, reports the UNB.

 

Tipped off, a team of DB police raided the house of Saiful Islam Talukdar Suruj, general secretary of Gopalpur upaizla unit Awami League, and arrested him around 2:30 am on charge of several criminal activities, said Mahafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Tangail DB police.

 

Police also recovered a firearm from his possession.

 

The arrestee was wanted in several cases filed with Gopalpur Police Station, added the OC.
