Banshkhali protesters postpone demo

The agitating protesters of Banshkhali area under Chittagong postponed all programmes opposing the proposed coal-fired power plant in the area for next 15 days.
The local Awami League leader, Abdullah Kabir Liton, has confirmed the postpone to Samakal after a meeting held with protesters on Saturday afternoon.
The AL leader also said, the siege programme to Banshkhali UNO office was also called off.
Earlier at least four people were killed more than 30 others received injuries in a clash between police and villagers in Chittagong's Banshkhali on April 4.
The clash erupted this afternoon at Gondamara Hazipara School field over constructing a coal-based power plant in Banshkhali upazila of Chittagong.
The dead were identified as- Mortuza (55), Anwar Islam (50), Jager Ahmed (50), Md Jaker (54).
The locals alleged that the policemen opened fire on them on the day while they were protesting a power plant project at Banshkhali indiscriminately but cops refused the allegations.
'The locals swooped on policemen during two groups' clash at the Gondamara but police tried to bring the situation under control,' the police sources, however, said.
