Meherpur ex-MP Masud Arun arrested

Former MP from Meherpur-1 constituency and BNP Central Executive Committee member Masud Arun has been arrested in a sabotage case.

Police said they arrested the former BNP lawmaker from his house at Boseparha in the district town early Monday.

Ikbal Bahar, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Meherpur Sadar Police Station, said Masud was arrested as there is an arrest warrant against him in the sabotage case.

Masud was on the run in two cases filed in 2013 over acts of sabotage during shutdown and blockade enforced by the BNP-led alliance, said the OC.
 
Masud would be produced before the court today, he added.
