Here are the charges for which Motiur Rahman Nizami was hanged on Tuesday night.
According to the Supreme Court verdict, the death penalty was upheld on three charges:
- Killing of 450 people and raping 32 women at Bausgari and Demra in Pabna.
- Involvement in killing three people in Pabna’s Dhulaura.
- Killing intellectuals.
- Life imprisonment was upheld on two counts of charges.
- Killing Sohrab Ali.
- Killing freedom fighters Rumi, Bodi, Jewel and Azad.
The Jamaat chief was arrested on July 29, 2010 for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
He was shown arrested on August 2 the same year for committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War, and the trial began nearly two years later on May 28, 2012.
