Narayanganj's Jatiya Party lawmaker AKM Selim Osman has felt sorry and ashamed over the incident of recent teacher's humiliation in the district.
The local JP leader who came under much criticism over the issue, made the comments while addressing in a view-exchange meeting, held at the community center, in Narayanganj club, this evening.
'Scores of phone call were made to me from various people in the country and I apologised for the incident to them,' the JP MP told the meeting.
Earlier the probe body formed to investigate into the humiliation of Shyamal Kanti Bhakta, headmaster of Piyar Sattar Latif High School in Bandar Upazila of Narayanganj, on Thursday submitted its report to the office of attorney general.
After the humiliation occurrence, the Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers' Association (FBUTA) recently organised human chain programs at all the public universities in the country in protesting the assault on the Narayanganj teacher.
On May 13 (Friday), Shyamal Kanti Bhakta was beaten up by local people and made to do sit-ups holding his ears in presence of local Jatiya Party lawmaker AKM Selim Osman as he allegedly hurt the religious sentiments making some derogatory comments.
