Tanu’s 2nd autopsy report submitted to CID

The second autopsy report of Comilla Victoria College student Sohagi Jahan Tanu, who was brutally killed, has been submitted to the Criminal Investigation Division (CID).

Mosharraf Hossain, assistant sub-inspector of Comilla CID, received the report from Faruk Hossain, massager of Forensic Department of the Comilla Medical College Hospital, on Sunday.

“A press briefing will be arranged this noon in this regard,” said Dr Kamoda Prosad Saha, head of the Forensic Medicine Department of Comilla Medical College Hospital.

However, Dr Saha did not disclose whether they found the evidence of rape in Tanu’s 2nd autopsy.

On May 17, the CID disclosed that it found evidence of rape on the body of the Comilla Victoria College student in its DNA test.

Earlier, doctors at the Forensic Department of Comilla Medical College Hospital in their first autopsy report did not find any sign of rape before the death of the college girl.

On 28 March, a local court ordered the exhumation of Tonu's body for fresh autopsy.

The court order follows 'discrepancies' in the investigation agencies' primary findings and what has been gleaned from her original autopsy.

Tanu, 19, a second year student of History Department of Comilla Victoria College and member of the college’s theatre, was found dead in a bush beside a culvert inside the Comilla Cantonment area on March 20 night. Her head was smashed, and she had allegedly been raped.

The victim’s father Year Hossain, an office assistant of Moinamoti Cantonment Board, filed a case against some unidentified people with Kotwali police station on March 21.

The killing of Tanu sparked protests across the country demanding abrupt arrest and exemplary punishment of those responsible.
