Dhaka-Ctg, Joydebpur-M’singh 4 lane highways finally!

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the four lane Dhaka-Chittagong highway and the four lane Joydebpur-Mymensingh highway on July 2 next, reports the UNB.

 

Road Transports and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said this at a press conference at the Secretariat on Thursday.

 

The Prime Minister will inaugurate the two four lane highways through video conference at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the capital around 11am on July 2, he said.

 

The opening of the two four lane highways will strengthen the road transports network of the country, and will reduce transport cost, traffic congestion, accidents, said the minister.

 

The four-lane upgrading of the 190 km highway from Daudkhali, Comilla to Chittagong City Gate will make it possible to travel between Dhaka and Chittagong within four and a half hours, he noted.

 

On the other hand, the four-lane upgrading of 87 km highway from Mymensingh to Joydebpur will facilitate quicker transportation of agricultural and industrial products from Mymensingh division and Gazipur district to the capital, he added.
