3 killed in Tangail, Satkhira road crashes

Three people were killed and three others injured in two separate road accidents in Tangail and Satkhira districts on Friday, reports the UNB.

 

In Tangail, two unidentified people were killed when a truck rammed into a pickup at Deuhata on the Dhaka-Tangail highway in Mirzapur upazila on Friday.

 

The accident took place in the area around 6:15 am when a Dhaka-bound truck collided head-on with a Tangail-bound duck-laden pickup, leaving two riders of the latter dead on the spot, said Khalilur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Gorai highway police.

 

Police arrested the truck driver but the one of the pickup managed to flee the scene.

 

In Satkhira, a construction worker was killed and his three co-workers were injured after being hit by a mixture machine while it was rolling down into a roadside ditch in an uncontrolled fall at Khanpur in Shyamnagar upazila on Friday.

 

The deceased was identified as Abur Raihan, 30, son of Rafiqul Islam, a resident of Kaliganj upazila.

 

Enamul Haq, officer-in-charge of Shyamnagar police station, said Raihan fell under a mixture machine and his three fellows were crushed as the machine all of a sudden started falling into a roadside ditch when they were pushing it towards the construction site around 8:30 am, leaving Raihan killed on the spot and the three injured.

 

The injured were rushed to Shyamnagar Upazila Health Complex.
