Gazipur RMG factory catches fire

A fire broke out at a ready-made garments factory in Chandra Palli Bidyut area of Kaliakoir upazila early Saturday, causing a considerable damage, reports the UNB.

 

Apurba Bal, station officer of Kaliakoir fire service station, said the fire ensued on the second floor of a five-storey building of Tropical Composite Factory of the ‘Mondal Group’ in the area at about 12:45am and soon spread to other floors.

 

On information, 13 firefighting units from Gazipur, Joydebpur, Mirzapur, Savar EPZ and Kaliakoir fire stations rushed to the spot and managed to bring the blaze under control at about 6:00 am.

 

Machinery, threads, cloths and other valuables were damaged in the fire, he added.

 

It could not be ascertained yet what caused the fire, Apurba said.
