Tamim chapter closed with his death: Asaduzzaman

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Saturday said the chapter of Gulshan café attack mastermind Tamim Chowdhury has been closed with his death during a special drive at Paikpara in Narayanganj city, reports the UNB.

 

"We think Tamim and his closest associates were killed here," he said while talking to reporters after visiting Paikpara in Narayanganj city where three militants, including Tamim Chowdhury, were killed in the special police operation, 'Hit Strom', at a militant hideout.

 

The identities of the two other militants will be disclosed after investigation, said Asaduzzaman.

 

Noting that the number of militants is so poor and they are isolated from people, the minister asserted that other militants will also be hunted down within a very short time.

 

Members of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) showed enough patience before killing the militants, as they asked the militants to surrender first, but they did not, he said.

 

Instead, the minister said, the militants hurled grenades and opened fire on the CTTC men, forcing them to retaliate when the three militants died.
