Traffic gridlock on Dhaka-Tangail highway

Holiday-makers are suffering immensely as there has been a severe gridlock on Dhaka-Tangail highway since last night.

A 9 kilometre-long tailback was created on the highway from Saver EPZ area to Gazipur Bypass, inflicting immeasurable sufferings on the home-bound passengers ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

Hosen Sarker, Officer-in-Charge of Salla (Konabari) Highway Police Station, said the tailback was created on the highway due to heavy pressure of vehicles, including the flow of the cattle-laden trucks.

The gridlock has left several hundred vehicles stranded while vehicles were seen moving slowly on the highway.
