Tampaco fire: Case filed against owner, 7 others

A case has been filed over the deaths in the fire at Tampaco Foils packaging factory in Tongi of Gazipur, which has claimed 31 lives so far.

Md Abdul Kader, father of one of the dead victims, has filed the case with Tongi Model Police Station on Sunday night, said Tongi police OC Md Firoz Talukder.

Owner of the Tampaco Foils packaging factory Syed Mokbul Hussain, also former BNP MP from Sylhet, and seven others made accused in the case.

Mokbul's wife 'Parvin' has been also named in the case. Others accused are: Managing Director Tanvir Ahmed, General Manager Shafikur Rahman, managers Monir Hossain, Samir Ahmed and 'Hanif', and Deputy Assistant Director Alamgir Hossain.

In the early hours of Saturday, a deadly fire triggered at Tampaco Foils packaging factory in Tongi BSCIC industrial area of Gazipur. Till now, 31 people have been killed and more than 70 injured in the fire.
