13 dead in Barisal trawler capsize

Operation on after Barisal trawler capsize- Samakal
At least 13 passengers were killed including women while at least 25 others went missing as a trawler capsized in the Sondha River in Banaripara upazila of Barisal with 60 passengers on board.
The incident took place at around 11:15am on Wednesday, said Banaripara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Md Shahidul Islam.
The trawler was going to Harta under Wazirpur Upazila from Banaripara carrying around 60 people on board, the UNO said.
On information, divers from Fire Service and Civil Defense went to the spot and started the rescue operation with the help of local people, police said.
Banaraipara thana Officer-in-Charge (OC), Ziaul Ahsan, said that of the dead, eight were identified.
The dead are- Sukdev Mondal, 40; Rabeya Khatun, 50; Mojammel Mollah, 60; Rupa Begum; Sagar Mir, 18; Firoza Begum; Rehana Begum, 14 and Joynal Hoque, 28.
The rescue operation is called off due to inadequate lights in the area.
