Syed Shamsul Haque laid to rest

The dead body of country's noted writer, Syed Shamsul Haque, who died yesterday, was buried at Kurigram, this afternoon.
The burial formalities were ended around 5.00pm on the day.
Earlier the dead body of Syed Shamsul Haque was taken at central Shaheed Minar today.
President Abdul Hamid has paid effusive tribute to the celebrated writer Syed Shamsul Haque at the central Shaheed Minar.
He died after a long battle against cancer on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at the United Hospital in the capital. He was 81.
Syed Shamsul Haque was born in Kurigram (in the northern part of present-day Bangladesh) on 27 December in 1935.
Syed Shamsul Haque, an accomplished short-story writer, novelist, playwright and a very popular poet in the country.
He won the Bangla Academy Award in 1966, Ekushey Padak in 1984 and Independence Award in 2000 for his contribution to Bangla Literature.
Haque survived his wife noted writer Anwara Syed Haq, one son, one daughter and lots of fans and well-wishers to mourn his death.
