Benapole land port fire under control

A fire that broke out at No 23 shed of Benapole land port in Sharsha upazila of Jessore early Sunday has been brought under control after five hours of frantic efforts.

The blaze erupted from an electric short circuit and burned down several Indian trucks parked in the area and private cars, said the Port director Nitai Chandra Sen.

Four units of firefighters doused the fire that spread to two other sheds and a part of the land port police station, he said.

The fire also engulfed a godown adjacent to the shed, he said adding that casualty of Tk 1 crore is feared by the fire.
