4 dead after truck overturns in Tangail

At least four people were killed and five others injured after a cement-laden truck veered off the road in Kalihati upazila of Tangail on Wednesday morning.

The incident took place on Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway at Jhokarchar area under the upazila around 6:00am.

Three of the deceased were identified as Sohel, Afsar and Sumon.

A Sirajganj-bound cement-laden truck from Narayanganj overturned beside the road as the driver lost control over the steering, leaving the four dead on the spot, said Asabur Rahman, OC of Bangabandhu Bridge East Police Station.

The accident also left five others injured, he said adding that the injured were admitted to a local hospital.
