2 killed in Sundarbans ‘gunfight’

Two suspected forest bandits were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Sharankhola range of Sundarbans in Bagerhat on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Al Amin, 45, and Hossain Mollah, 30. They were the members of Samsu group in the Sundarbans. 

Major Adnan Kabir, deputy commander of RAB-8, said a team of RAB was raiding in Dudhmukhi Khal’s Badamtala area as a part of their regular patrol.

Meanwhile, sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the forest bandits fired on them triggering the gunfight that left the two dead.

11 firearms and 227 rounds of bullets were also recovered from the spot, he added.
