‘Mentally unstable’ man kills 2 women in Moulvibazar

A ‘mentally unstable’ old-aged man has stabbed to death two women in Moulvibazar today.
The killer is identified as Shafiq Mia, 60, of Gargaon village of Rajnagar upazila.
The dead are- Sayra Begum, 30 and Nazrun Begum, 60.
Four others were also injured in the incident and they are- Sumi Begum, 15, Tania, 17, Nesarun Begum and Nuni Mia.
The injured were sent to the Moulvibazar hospital after the attack, police sources confirmed.
Shafiq’s neighbors said, Shafiq was a police constable and he was exempted from his post as he was mentally ill ten years ago.
Rajnagar thana officer-in-charge (OC), Shaymol Bonik, confirmed the dead and injured saying, ‘Shafiq is now undergoing treatment and we will take necessary steps in this regard.’
