2 suspected robbers killed in Bogra 'gunfight'

Two suspected robbers were killed in an alleged gunfight with police at Panchpir in Kahalu upazila early Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Ibrahim Hossain, 45, and Dulal Hossain, 50.

Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive in the area around 2:00am as they have information that a robber gang was preparing for robbery there, said Kahalu Police Station OC Nur-e-Alam Siddiqui.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the robbers opened fire on the policemen forcing them to fire back that triggered a gunfight.

Ibrahim and Dulal were caught in the line of fire and died on the spot while other members of the gang managed to get away.

Police later recovered the bodies and sent those to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue.

The law enforcers also recovered one foreign pistol, one magazine, some sharp weapons and five bullets from the spot.
