Mayor Miru, 5 others sent to jail after remand

Sirajgnaj's Shahjadpur Municipality Mayor Halimul Haque Miru and five others, who were remanded for five-day in Samakal Journalist Abdul Hakim Shimul murder case, were sent to jail today.

 

Shahjadpur Senior Judicial Magistrate Md. Shoriful Islam passed the order, after conducting a hearing in this connection on Saturday.

 

Court sources said, as there were no remand pleas today against them, the six alleged persons were sent to jail.

 

The Sirajganj's Shahjadpur municipality Mayor Halimul Haque Miru was held in connection with the murder of Samakal's Shahjadpur Correspondent, Abdul Hakim Shimul.

 

The police members detained the Mayor from capital’s Shyamoli area after the murder.

 

The Daily Samakal’s Shahjadpur Correspondent was shot during a factional clash between the supporters of ousted Shahjadpur Municipality Awami League president Abdur Rahim (VP Rahim) and the party unit's Organisational Secretary and Mayor Miru in Monirampur area of Sirajganj’s Shahjadpur on February 2.

 

Shimul succumbed to his injuries on Feb 3 while being taken to Dhaka from Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College in Bogra for better treatment.
