JP leader Kader Khan arrested over MP Liton murder

Police have arrested Abdul Kader Khan, former Gaibandha-1 (Sundarganj) MP from Jatiya Party (JP), over the killing of lawmaker Manjurul Islam Liton.

 

Detectives Branch (DB) of Police arrested Kader Khan from his residence at Rahmannagar Ziladarpara in Bogra district town around 5:00pm Tuesday.

 

Bogra Supreintendent of Police (SP) Asaduzzaman told Samakal that a team of DB from Gaibandha with the help of Bogra police arrested the former MP.

 

The arrest was made five days after police cordoned off Kader house. Law enforcement agencies, including Special Branch (SB) took position in front of his house-cum-clinic from last Thursday.

 

A case was, earlier, filed over the murder of ruling Awami League lawmaker from Gaibandha-1 constituency Manzurul Islam Liton who was shot dead by unidentified assailants at his home in Bamondanga area of Sundarganj.

 

Tahmida Bulbul Kakoli, sister of the dead MP, filed the case with Sundarganj Police Station accusing six unknown persons after the murder.

 

On December 31 in 2016, according to family sources, three men riding on a motorbike came to Liton's house and managed to flee after shooting him to dead.

 

Inspector General of Bangladesh Police AKM Shahidul Hoque on Monday said that the killers of ruling Awami League lawmaker from Gaibandha-1 constituency, Manzurul Islam Liton, were identified. 

 

The accused of the case will be arrested soon,  police said.
