Shimul murder: Mayor Miru on fresh remand

Sirajgnaj's Shahjadpur Municipality Mayor Halimul Haque Miru and his brother Hasibul Haque Mintu were placed on two-day fresh remand in Samakal Journalist Abdul Hakim Shimul murder case.

Sirajganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Nazrul Islam passed the order on Tuesday.

Confirming the matter, Sirajgnaj's Shahjadpur cognizance court general record officer (GRO) Md Ataur Rahman said the duo was sent to jail after fresh remand order.

The court placed Mayor Miru and his brother Mintu on five-day remand for each on February 13 and February 15 respectively. Their remand terms have already been ended.

Samakal Journalist Abdul Hakim Shimul sustained bullet wounds during a clash between the supporters of ousted Shahjadpur Municipality Awami League president Abdur Rahim (VP Rahim) and the party unit's Organisational Secretary and Mayor Halimul Haque Miru in Monirampur area of Sirajganj’s Shahjadpur on February 2.

Shimul succumbed to his injuries around 1:00pm on the following day while being taken to Dhaka from Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College in Bogra for better treatment.
