2 schoolboys tortured for 'stealing', 2 UP men held

Two Union Parishad (UP) members were detained regarding the incident where two schoolboys were tortured brutally tying with tree for allegedly stealing goats.

The incident happened at Anduya village in Rajshahi's Durgapur upazila Wednesday morning. Both the victims are class-X students of Amgachi Sahar Banu High School.

Locals said the night guards caught the boys on suspicion that they rob a goat of Rezaul Karim at the village. Later, UP member Abdul Motaleb take the boys and tied with a tree near goat-owner's house.

As per the decision of the meeting, the boys were beaten and realized Tk 16,000 from the victims' families.

The torture-video went viral in social media.

Durgapur Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Ruhul Alam said one of the victims father Ziaur filed a case against nine people including the UP member.
