76 evacuated from 'Atia Mahal'

At least 76 people including women and children were evacuated from 'Atia Mahal' in Sibbari area under Dakshin Surma upazila in Sylhet after launching operation there suspecting it as a militant den.

The Para Commando Battalion of Bangladesh Army started the assault codenamed as 'Operation Twilight' at the five-storey building around 8:30am today. 

Prior to starting the operation, media persons and people of the surrounding areas were moved on while gas and power supply were also cut off.

 
According to the officials of the law enforcement agencies, four women, who were remained trapped inside the house, were evacuated around 10:00am.

Later, the law enforcers evacuated 72 more people including women and children till this afternoon. All evacuated people were kept at a nearby house.
