SWAT launches raid at Moulvibazar 'militant den'

SWAT began an operation at a suspected militant den in Moulvibazar's Nasirpur area - Yusuf Ali
A team of Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) is carrying out an operation at a suspected militant den at a house in Nasirpur area of Moulvibazar Sadar upazila.
The members of SWAT and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit began the operation around 6:30pm on Wednesday.
Kamrul Ahsan, DIG of Sylhet Range, confirmed the matter.
SWAT reached the spot around 4:45pm. Police Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crimes chief Monirul Islam also reached there.
Law enforcers cordoned off a suspected militant hideout in Nasirpur area of Moulvibazar Sadar upazila since Tuesday night.
Another house at Barhahaat in Moulvibazar municipality, some 18 kilometres from the house in Nasirpur, has also been cordoned off.
Separate gun shots and blasts were reportedly heard from the area.
Meanwhile, police promulgated section 144 around the claimed militant hideouts restricting movement of vehicles and pedestrians in the two areas.
