Operation at Nasirpur 'militant den' resumes

A team of Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) is carrying out an operation at a suspected militant den at a house in Nasirpur area of Moulvibazar Sadar upazila.

Police Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crimes chief Monirul Islam reached the spot around 11:30am on Thursday and told journalists that the operation has been resumed.

The operation on the two ‘militant dens’ at Nasirpur village in Sadar upazila and at Barhat in municipality area in the district, was suspended this morning due to heavy rain.

Law enforcers started firing aiming the 'militant den' in Nasirpur area from 11:45am, said our correspondent from the spot.

Law enforcers cordoned off a suspected militant hideout in Nasirpur area of Moulvibazar Sadar upazila since Tuesday night.


Another house at Barhahaat in Moulvibazar municipality, some 20 kilometres from the house in Nasirpur, has also been cordoned off.

Meanwhile, police promulgated section 144 around the claimed militant hideouts restricting movement of vehicles and pedestrians in the two areas.
