BNP candidate and immediate past mayor Monirul Haque Sakku is leading in Comilla City Corporation (CCC) polls held today.
Unofficially, Sakku bagged 68,790 votes while the AL candidate Anjuman Sultana Sima got 58,261 votes in the polls.
The voting for the Comilla City Corporation was started on Thursday morning amid tight security.
The voting was started at 103 polling centers from 8:00am and it was continued till 4:00pm without any break on the day.
Of the 103 polling centers, the voting in 2 centers have been suspended.
A neck-to-neck contest is held between AL mayoral candidate Anjuman Sultana Sima and BNP mayoral rival and immediate past mayor Monirul Haque Sakku.
Members of law enforcement agencies, including police, RAB and BGB, were deployed to maintain the law and order situation in the election area.
Meanwhile, police had cordoned off a suspected militant hideout at Kotbari area on the outskirts of the city, over increasing the tense during the polls.
