3 more Dinajpur boiler blast victims die

Three more persons who received burn injuries in a boiler explosion at a rice mill in Gopalganj of Dinajpur Sadar upazila have been died, raising the death toll from the incident to seven.

The victims are: the mill managing director Ranjit Basak, 50, Udoy Chandra, 50, and Shafiqul Islam, 19. Among them Ranjit and Shafiqul died early Sunday at Rangpur Medical College Hospital while Udoy Chandra died around 12:00pm.

On Wednesday, two workers, including a female one, were killed and 28 others suffered burn injuries as the boiler went off at ‘Jamuna Auto Rice Mill’ around 11:00am.

The injured were taken to M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Anjana Bibi, 30, and Moksed Ali, 50, dead.

Of the injured, 14 were shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where Anwarul Islam succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning.

Another worker, Rustom Ali (45), who sustained burn injuries in a boiler explosion died at Rangpur Medical College Hospital on Friday.

Meanwhile, a six-member probe committee, headed by additional district magistrate Mahbubur Rahman, was formed to look into the incident.

The committee was asked to submit its report within three working days.
