Before BNP gathering, Sunamganj transport workers call a 36-hour strike

After Sylhet and Moulvibazar, Sunamganj District Bus Mini-bus Owners' Association and Transport Workers' Association have jointly called for a 36-hour strike on Sunamganj-Sylhet route for Friday and Saturday, to realize their four-point demand.

The strike will continue from 6 am on Friday to 6 pm on Saturday.

General Secretary of Sunamganj District Transport Owners and Workers Association, Jewel Mia, announced the strike after a meeting at Kadamtoli in Sylhet on Thursday.

The demands include  stopping illegal toll collection from Lamakji bridge on Sunamganj Sylhet road, stopping plying of illegal CNG-powered auto-rickshaws, stopping BRTC buses and renovating Sunamganj bus terminal.

Jewel Mia said that the strike has no relation to the BNP rally. This strike has been called for the interests of owners and workers, he added.

BNP's Sylhet divisional mass rally will be held at Sylhet Alia Madrasa ground on Saturday.
