One gets life term for drugs peddling in C'nawabganj

A Chapainawabganj court on Monday sentenced a man to life imprisonment in a drugs case.

Additional District and Session Judge Md Rabiul Islam gave this verdict in absence of the convict.

The convicted person is Sobur, 23, son of late Moimur Rahman of Jaminpur village under Shibganj upazila in the district. The court also fined him of Taka 10,000, in default, to suffer three months more in jail.

According to the prosecution story, police of Shibganj thana arrested Sobur with 100 grams of heroin from a mango orchard in Pukuria village under Kansat union of Shibganj upazila on February 26, 2017.

Later, a case was lodged against him under Narcotics Control Act, on which the court declared the verdict.
