Dhaka sees its lowest temperatures

The capital city of Dhaka recorded the lowest temperatures of this winter season at 11.5 degrees Celsius, said Meteorologist of Bangladesh Meteorological Department Omar Faruq.

The life of the capital residents has been disrupted in severe winter. 

Moreover, a mild winter is going on in 17 districts of the country.

Apart from this, the next 24-hour forecast of the Meteorological Department released at 9 am on Saturday said that moderate to thick fog may fall from midnight on Saturday to Sunday morning. 

The temperature of the country may drop further on Sunday and Monday, it added.

According to the weather forecast, cold wave is going on in 17 districts of Dhaka, Khulna, Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions. 

Cold current is flowing over Faridpur, Madaripur, Kishoreganj, Manikganj, Rajshahi, Ishwardi, Bogra, Naogaon, Natore, Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Panchagarh, Satkhira, Jessore, Chuadanga, Kushtia and Barisal.

Habib Rahman, who was going to office at Farmgate on Saturday morning, said, “I got up late so I took a motorcycle ride to reach the office quickly. But because of the fog, it is also difficult to see the road. And it is also difficult to ride a motorcycle in such cold weather.”

Shahidul Islam sells chicken in a van in Mohammadpur area. On Saturday morning, he said, “I have to leave the house very early in the morning for business. The winter is very cold; God knows how long it will last. It becomes a problem for me to go out in the morning.”

In the capital, many cars are seen driving with their headlights on in the morning. At 7:50 am on Saturday, the Sundarban Express train crossed Tejgaon railway station towards Kamalapur with headlights on.
