3 passengers killed as train hits auto-rickshaw

Three passengers of an auto-rickshaw were killed and five others injured when a train hit them at an unprotected railway crossing of Dhepakandi village in Falda Union of Bhuapur, Tangail around 12 noon on Wednesday.

The injured were rescued and sent to Bhuapur Upazila Health Complex.

Bhuapur police station OC Faridul Islam said, "The Jamalpur-bound train from Dhaka was crossing Dhepakandi railway crossing around 12 noon. Meanwhile, an auto-rickshaw loaded with passengers was moving to Bhuiyanpur from Falda. The auto-rickshaw collided with the Jamalpur-bound train while approaching Dhepakandi railway crossing, leaving three people dead on the spot and five others injured. They were quickly rescued and admitted to Bhuapur Upazila Health Complex.”
