Boy killed in Laxmipur AL factional clash

A teenager was killed and 10 people were injured in a clash took place on Wednesday morning between two factions of Awami League over estabklishing dominance in the area of Charkachia village under South Charbangshi Union of Raipur Upazila of Laxmipur.

Laxmipur District Superintendent of Police Mahfuzzaman Ashraf said that the deceased Russell Hossain, 14, son of Monir Hossain Bhuttu of Charkachia village, is also nephew of UP member Nazrul Islam. 

At least 10 people of both sides were injured in the incident, he said, adding that the injured were undergoing treatment in different clinics, including Sadar Hospital.

The clash took place between the followers of South Charbangshi Union Awami League Joint General Secretary Shahjalal Rahul and UP member Nazrul Islam, who is an activist of Awami League.

Th SP also said additional police were deployed at the scene. Legal action will be taken against them involved in the incident, he continued.
