Man held with firearm, ammunition in Rajshahi

An alleged top-listed guns dealer was detained with a gun and ammo in the city of Rajshahi last night by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) as part of an anti-crime campaign.

The man who was arrested, according to RAB authorities, was identified as Sarwar Jaman, 34, the late Asaduzzaman's son from the city's Bhadra neighborhood and Boalia Police Station, reports BSS.

An elite force unit drove through Bhadra at around 11.30 p.m. after receiving a tip, detained the criminal, and found a foreign-made pistol, one magazine, and one knife in his possession.

The individual was detained by the RAB squad due to his protracted involvement in the trafficking and trade of firearms. 

He long evaded justice in 13 criminal charges, including robbery, possession of weapons, kidnapping, and drug trafficking.

The apprehended person, along with the seized weapon and ammunition, were turned over to police this morning after a case was filed with the Boalia Police Station in this regard.
