3 die after drinking toxic liquor in Kushtia

Three people died while five others are undergoing treatment at Kushtia General Hospital as they drank toxic liquor at different places under Sadar upazila of the district early morning.

The deceased were identified as Md Shahin, 47, son of late Harun-Ur-Rashid, resident of Bara Ailchara area under Sadar upazila, Md. Ratan, 21, son of late Hanif, resident of Mashan Barui Para village of Mirpur upazila, and Sifat Ullah, 27, son of Md Rakibul Alam, resident of Bheramara upazila of the district.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Kushtia Model Police Station Shahadat Hossain said that several people were hospitalized at Kushtia General Hospital after drinking toxic liquor in various places in the district on Sunday night and three of them died this morning. Five others are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The bodies have been kept at Kushtia General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
