Train communication with Sylhet halts again

Train communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country was paused again on Sunday in order to recover the three compartments derailed earlier.

Two relief trains from Kulaura and Akhaura stations were working to retrieve the derailed compartments since 5am on Sunday.

Confirming the matter, Sylhet's Bhanugach station master Kabir Ahmed said, "The three compartments which were derailed Saturday will be taken to Sreemangal station. And then, normal train communication will resume."

However, he could not say how long the process would take.

Two compartments and the engine of a Sylhet-bound train derailed at Lawachhara in Moulvibazar on Saturday morning, snapping Sylhet's rail communication with the rest of the country.

The Udyan Express veered off the tracks at around 5am when it was hit by a falling tree.

Train communication was restored after 15 hours of derailment on Saturday night.
