Core barrel installed at RNPP unit-1

The installation of the core barrel has prepared unit 1 of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) for fuel loading.

The core barrel is one of the primary components of the reactor internals, according to a message that was sent to media on Tuesday. 

There were a baffle and fuel assemblies inside the barrel, which will participate in the nuclear reaction. 

According to the statement, the core barrel is made to house the core materials, shield the reactor pressure vessel from neutron and gamma radiation, and separate the intake and outlet coolant flows.

Stainless austenitic class steel, a crucial component of the nuclear power reactor, is used to make the barrel. 

The RNPP, which has two VVER-1200 reactors with a combined capacity of 2400 MW, is being built to a Russian design. 

All international safety standards are fully met by the generation III+ reactors. 

The project's general designer and general contractor are the Engineering Division of the Russian State Corporation Rosatom.
