3 awarded death penalty for killing minor girl in N'ganj

A court in Narayanganj on Tuesday sentenced three people to death for abducting and killing a minor girl in Rupganj upazila of the district in 2018.

Narayanganj Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Nazmul Haq Shaymol handed down the verdict.

The death row convicts are Jakir Hossain, Shahjalal and Ashraful of Kurigram district.

According to the prosecution, the convicts abducted the three-year old girl from her house at Vulta Tekpara in Rupganj and killed her for ransom on October 18 in 2018.

The convicts demanded Taka 10 lakh from the minor's father Anowar Hossain. All the trio culprits used to live at the house of victim's father by paying money.

Following the murder, victim's father filed a case with Rupganj Thana.

Testifying witnesses and evidences, the court found them guilty and handed down the verdict in presence of the three criminals, said Public Prosecutor (PP) Rakib Uddin Ahmed.
