Truck-motorbike collision kills 2 in Rangpur

A head-on collision between a truck and a motorbike on the Gangachara Sheikh Hasina Bridge in Rangpur has killed two individuals and injured one on Saturday night.

The deceased were identified as Shah Alam, 20, and Wazed Miah, 16, confirmed Gangachara Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Dulal Hossain.

Hasan Miah, 18, was critically injured in the accident, the police official said.

Police and locals said a Burimari land port-bound truck collided head-on with a motorbike coming from the opposite direction on the bridge at around 8:30pm.

The driver and two passengers of the motorbike were gravely injured, and locals rushed them to the Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Two of the injured were declared dead by the duty doctors at the hospital.

The truck and motorbike were both seized and taken to the police station, said the OC, adding that the truck driver went into hiding soon after the accident.
