Bus-truck collision in Bogura injures 15

A head-on collision between a bus and a truck in Shahjahanpur Upazila of Bogura left 15 people injured on Monday. Seven of the injured are in critical condition.

The accident happened in the Omordighi area of the Natore-Bogura regional highway at around 8:30am.

Kundurhat Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abbas Ali said a ‘Samir Choice’ bus was carrying passengers from Rajshahi to Kurigram on Monday morning. A sand-laden truck coming from Rangpur had a head-on collision with the bus, he said, adding that on information, members of the Fire Service & Civil Defence (FSCD) and highway police rescued the injured and rushed them to the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZMC).

The critically injured victims were identified as bus driver Yunus Ali, 40, Mizanur Rahman, 42, Naim Miah, 28, Shilpi Akhtar, 25, Robiul Islam, 40, Al Amin, 27, and another man whose identity could not be confirmed.

Police said the other eight injured were given first aid and kept under observation.
