US visa policy not related to our politics: Tipu Munshi

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi has said the US visa policy is their own policy, and it is not related to Bangladesh's regular politics.

"The US visa restrictions are not permanent. It may be withdrawn at any time. The US has imposed visa restrictions due to special circumstances. It has nothing to do with our normal politics," the minister said.

He made the remarks while addressing as the chief guest a function organised by Rangpur City Awami League at the Public Library ground in Rangpur City to accord reception to 23 City Councilors elected in the Rangpur City Corporation Elections-2022.

The commerce minister called on the party leaders and workers to work together.

"We may have lost the Rangpur City Corporation elections. This does not mean that we do not have votes in Rangpur. More than half of our councillors have been elected in the city corporation elections," he said.

Tipu Munshi said Bangladesh is a role model following its overall development in the concept of the whole world.

"BNP is criticising our government for political reasons when the whole world is calling us role models. They will criticise, but we have to approach people with this in mind," he said.

Presidium Member of Bangladesh Awami League and Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) President Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin delivered the inaugural addresses at the function presided over by Convener of City Awami League Dr Md Delwar Hossain.

City Awami League Joint Convener Md Abul Kashem, President of City Mohila Awami League Mamtaz Begum, Panel Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation and President of Rangpur Metropolitan Thana Awami League Tauhidul Islam, General Secretary of City Swechchasebak League Ramzan Ali Tuhin, General Secretary of City Chhatra League Sheikh Asif also spoke.
