Truck-pickup van collision kills 4 in Solonga

A cattle-laden pickup van collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction in Sirajganj, killing four, including a child, and injuring two others, on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Sujan Ahmed, 32, Rabbi Hossain, 24, Rana Hossain, 30, and Ayan Ahmed, 4. The two injured were sent to the Sirajganj 250 Bed Bongamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital.

This incident happened on the Dhaka-Rajshahi highway at Pukurpar area in Ramkrishnapur union under Solonga thana of Sirajganj at around 7am. On information, personnel from the Solonga Police Station and Highway police rescued the injured and recovered bodies of the deceased. 

Solonga Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Enamul Haque confirmed the matter.

Hatikumrul Highway OC SM Badrul Kabir said, "The mango laden-truck was going from Rajshahi to Hatikumrul and the cattle-laden pickup truck was going from Dhaka to Bonpara. A head-on collision between the two vehicles killed four people and three cows."

The incident is being investigated, Deputy Inspector General of Highway Police Md Mojammel Haque told the Daily Samakal.
