Bus-private car collision kills 2 in Gaibandha

A head-on collision between a bus and a private car at Gobindapur of Gaibandha on the Dhaka-Rangpur Highway has killed two people.

This incident happened in the Panthapara area at around 6:30am on Friday, confirmed Gobandaganj Highway Officer-in-Charge Aminul Islam.

The deceased were identified as Dhaka dweller Abul Bashar, 60, and Cumilla dweller Md Mizan, 35. Mizan was driving the private car. Highway Police took the bodies into custody.

Gobindaganj Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) station in-charge Arif Anwar said the private car was heading towards Rangpur from Dhaka. Upon reaching the Panthapara area, It collided with a Polabari Express bus coming from the opposite direction.

Both the driver and the lone passenger of the car died on the spot and the car was wrecked. On information, FSCD members came to the spot and recovered the bodies.

The vehicles involved in the incident were seized, but the driver and helper of the bus escaped, said OC Aminul.
