Excavator-ambulance collision leaves four dead

Four people were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between an ambulance and an excavator carrying truck on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Chachaniakandhi area under Gopalganj Sadar upazila on Thursday.

The identities of the deceased could not be identified immediately. H

However, it is assumed that the victims might be passengers of the ambulance.

OC Shariful Islam of Bhatiapara Highway Police Station of Kashiani Upazila of Gopalganj said the accident occurred in the area around 7:30am when an Dhaka-bound from Khulna ambulance collided head-on with an excavator carrying truck, leaving one person dead on the spot and six others injured critically.

On information, police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the injured and brought them to Gopalganj 250-bed General Hospital.

Of the injured, one died on way to hospital and two more succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital, he said.
